After traveling a lot of this country by car, for personal and professional reasons, I’ve fallen in love with the different ways that stories can be told. Sometimes stories are best told in words and sometimes they are not. Sometimes the moral of the story can only be learned through experience. Sometimes it is through the sights and smells of a specific place. Sometimes it is taking the time to understand history, and sometimes it is accepting the unknowns of the future.
I’m not even close to knowing everything, and I know that I never will. But one thing that I do know is that what makes a good story is how it connects to the heart. The heart of the storyteller, the heart of the audience. If a story is told as authentically as it can be, that is what makes people want to listen. I would like to believe that as humans, we are naturally drawn to things and to people that are close & connected to our inner spirit.
My goal as a graphic designer, a writer, an environmental educator, a visual communicator, is to tell stories in ways that connect to the innermost parts of the human soul. How can I make people pay attention? How can I make them remember what we’re trying to say? How can I inspire them to want to take action to leave this world a better place? How can I empower them to live the life they’ve always wanted but didn’t know they could have? In my experience, listening is just as important as speaking up. Knowing when to tell your own stories and when to use your skills to help others tell theirs.
I have a B.A. in Graphic Design and a B.A. in Creative Writing. I have over 8 years of experience working as a visual communications professional in full-service advertising agencies and consulting firms, nonprofit organizations, education, the outdoor industry, and beyond. I am currently looking for my next workplace to call home, after spending the past 3 years living on the road full time out of a Subaru as a Leave No Trace educator and communications specialist.
I can’t wait to tell new stories together.
